Spider-Man and Gamora Tear It Up In Latest ‘Marvel vs Capcom Infinite’ Trailer
You didn’t think Capcom would let a Comic-Con come and go without bringing some of that Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite flavor to the event, did you? During yesterday’s Marvel gaming panel, the publisher didn’t just show up to talk; it came to deliver some spectacular additions to the galaxy-spanning roster for its upcoming fighting game. We already knew MVC Infinite was going to have some comic book heavy-hitters on the roster, but new additions Spider-Man and Gamora bring some box office mojo with them, too.
Spider-Man swings into action to help his teammate Frank West take on Mike Haggar and Nemesis, all three of which were also announced as playable characters at SDCC this week. While Haggar and Nemesis have the upper hand early on in the trailer, the moment Frank tags in Spider-Man, the amazing hero does his best to even the odds. Spidey’s been a playable character in the Capcom Marvel games almost since the start, so it’s not all that surprising to see him back in action here. It is nice to see that some of his moves got a bit of an upgrade, including one of his Hyper attacks, which brings in the Green Goblin in a pseudo-cameo.
Though they’re able to fell Haggar and Nemesis rather easily, Gamora and Thanos make for a much tougher tandem for Spidey and ol’ Frank. That goes double when Gamora whips out the ultimate version of the Mind Stone, one of a handful of Infinity Stones players can use to modify their characters in Infinite. Gamora is already one of the most skilled combatants in the Marvel Universe, but when you add in an Infinity Stone, she becomes nigh impossible to stop. I mean, she literally uses every weapon at her disposal to destroy her opponents. It’s impressive.
If you take a quick note beyond the action on the screen, you’ll see MODOK chilling in the background in one of Infinite’s new stages as well, the AIMBRELLA Labs. Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is all about the worlds of Marvel and Capcom colliding thanks to Ultron and Mega Man villain Sigma, and we can’t wait to see what other bizarre stages make the cut for this sequel.
Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is due out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on September 19.
