A sure sign of spring that's music to my soul is hearing a chorus of spring peepers in the swamp. The number of frogs, toads and other amphibians has been declining worldwide since the 1980s. In the past twenty years or so, Michigan has seen a decline in Fowler’s toads and mink frogs. If you’d like to listen for calling frogs and toads and volunteer you can get more information on the 20th Annual Frog and Toad Survey and other projects supported by the Nongame Wildlife Fund at michigan.gov/wildlife.
