Thanksgiving is the second most deadly holiday on Michigan roads, and the State Police are ramping up patrols to help keep people safe.

The fact that the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is billed as the biggest bar night of the year definitely plays a factor in the added officers.

Most people will be out drinking tonight, and travel for the Thanksgiving holiday is supposed to be higher than normal this year.

Starting today, there will be added patrol cars in the state, looking for impaired drivers, seat belt infractions, and careless driving.  They will be on the roads till Sunday evening.

Please be careful wherever you are heading this holiday, and if you do drink tonight, make sure to find a safe ride home.
