Mike and the Mechanics have gone through a lot of changes since their multi-platinum beginning — and fans can get a look at bandleader Mike Rutherford's current lineup courtesy of a clip from their upcoming performance on Front and Center.

The group has been the subject of renewed focus for Rutherford in recent years. Singer Paul Young died suddenly in 2000, followed by the departure of multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Paul Carrack four years later, leading to a lengthy hiatus for what had once been a project that served as Rutherford's solo outlet between Genesis albums. But since debuting a new incarnation in 2010, the Mechanics have released a pair of new LPs — 2011's The Road and 2017's Let Me Fly — both featuring singers Tim Howar and Andrew Roachford.

"To start out again, it’s like the old days, you’ve got to build it up," Rutherford told Ultimate Classic Rock last year. "You play smaller places, small theaters and clubs and bigger theaters, which is lovely. But it’s been a bit like what I did 40 years ago. I was thinking, 'Am I sure I should be doing this at my age?' But it’s been fun. The band are great and I love playing with them."

Promoting Let Me Fly was the focus of the Mechanics' Front and Center appearance, which is scheduled to air as part of the show's eighth season. The group performed the Fly track "The Best Is Yet to Come" in their set, which you can check out above.

Mike and the Mechanics' Front and Center episode puts them solidly in good company as part of a season lineup that also includes former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, whose episode debuted Jan. 4, as well as Sheryl Crow, Seal and Jack Johnson.
