The inaugural Interlocken Music Festival will take place Sept. 5-8 at Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, Va. Between the lineup and the credentials of the organizers, it could possibly be one of the main events of the summer for lovers of jam bands.

Although the full lineup has yet to be announced, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Furthur and the Black Crowes are among the big names, with a solo Zac Brown and the String Cheese Incident also topping the bill. The press release announcing the festival also promises that "[m]any of the artists will be performing at Interlocken over multiple days, and will be featured in unique and exciting artist pairings."

Bands will perform two-hour sets, with the music running continuously between the two stages. This was a concept pioneered by organizer Dave Frey at the H.O.R.D.E. Festival, which he founded in 1992. The other organizer of Interlocken, Peter Shapiro, is the publisher of Relix Magazine and owns the jam-band friendly Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y.

The festival will also be environmentally conscious, with carbon offsetting and recycling initiatives planned. Food and drink options, and other amenities, will be provided by companies from throughout Central Virginia.

Tickets for the festival, including VIP packages, go on sale Thursday, May 23 at 10:00AM at their website.
