Police serve and protect...and throw.

A new video has gone viral in which a Rosenberg, Texas police officer gets out of his cruiser to toss a football around with a kid hanging out by himself.

The encounter, which took place last weekend, was caught on the squad's car dashcam.

Sergeant Ariel Soltura said he initiated the moment:

I got out, and I think the universal sign that everybody knows for throw me the football, I held my hands up in a triangle form."

Jermaine Ford, 10, said, "I wasn't expecting that. I thought I was in trouble and did something wrong."

Instead, they become internet celebrities and even met again earlier this week to toss around the ol' pigskin again.
