Alexander Graham Bell would be super PO'ed about this.

The Flint area is being targeted by a phone scam these days and it sounds super official, but it is not. The phone scam is hitting residents by pretending to be the IRS and saying that the person owes thousands of dollars and threatening arrest if you do not pay it. The scammers even claim that the police will be busting down your door in about 45 minutes to arrest you. Not the case.

According to the Genesee County Sheriff Department, it's all a scam and you should not be fearful of the empty threats. Also know that the IRS will contact you via mail if you do owe back taxes or any sort of money. The IRS will never call you unless you have given them previous permission to communicate that way.

If you ever do get a call like this, you can report them to the Federal Trade Commission or the IRS, but your best best is to just hang up on them.
