Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores has pledged to raise $10 million to help with the Flint water crisis.

According to MLive, Gores said "the issues facing Flint won't be solved solely through government intervention and emergency support" and that the "private sector needs to play a role here and I am committed to helping drive that effort."

Gores grew up in Flint. His father owned a grocery store in the city and Gores worked there stocking shelves and delivering groceries during his youth. He graduated in 1982 from Genesee High School.
