Prop 1 Fails

Prop 1 failed by wide margins in all 83 Michigan counties yesterday. In Lapeer County, the unofficial results of the special election are 16,928 NO votes 2,147 YES votes. "I think voters are expecting us to do the hard work as legislators and leaders in Lansing to solve the problems that they sent us here to solve," said Todd Courser, R-Lapeer, who had put forth a plan to cut 10 percent from the budget across the board to fund road repairs. "This is representative government, and they're expecting us to make the tough calls." Others say Plan B should be a part-time legislature.
