Queen's Roger Taylor accepted a £50,000 check in London yesterday from the Hard Rock Cafe on behalf of the Mercury Phoenix Trust, a charity organization that fights AIDS worldwide. After the death of Freddie Mercury in 1991, the remaining members of Queen and their manager organized The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness and used the proceeds to launch The Mercury Phoenix Trust. "Since the start of our relationship with the Hard Rock a total of £50,000 has been raised and we could not be more thankful of the efforts the teams across the world have gone to in supporting the charity" said the MPT. "We look forward to 2016 proving to be our best one yet! It will also be Freddie's 70th Birthday so it's a BIG YEAR!” For more information mercuryphoenixtrust.com/.
