The Rolling Stones' 50th anniversary year has brought fans a new book, a new greatest hits compilation and a new song, 'Doom and Gloom' -- but it's also been filled with a lot of rumors, and now we can add one more to the list: That the band will headline next year's Glastonbury festival.

The U.K.'s Sun tabloid quotes an anonymous source as saying that festival boss Michael Eavis is working hard to land the band for his 2013 lineup. "The band are gearing up for a load of live dates but tend to leave big decisions like this until the last minute," explained the source, adding that "Michael Eavis is desperate to get the band confirmed and has made initial contact with their people."

Continued the source, "Getting a decision from the whole band can be tough and at the moment they are without an agent for live shows, which is not helping the situation. But there is a good chance 2013 will finally be the year they make it."

Much as Eavis might like the band to make a decision, they probably have a little time to wait; Glastonbury is traditionally held in the summer, so we doubt we'll be hearing anything definitive about next year's lineup anytime soon. In the meantime, fans can look forward to Nov. 12, when the new hits compilation 'GRRR!' arrives in stores -- along with the band's second new song of 2012, 'One More Shot.'
