Max Scherzer pitched the first five innings and Doug Fister the next three as the Detroit Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals 6 – 3.  It was all part of manager Jim Leyland’s master plan to get his pitching staff set up for the playoffs.  Fister picked up his 10th win with closer Jose Valverde collecting his 47th save of the season.  The Tiger offense was provided by Victor Martinez and Don Kelly.  The Baltimore Orioles come to Motown for a four game set.
