Registration is now underway for the Second Annual Veterans Summit which will be held Oct. 5 at the Lapeer National Guard Armory. The event will feature a host of veteran resources.

“We have a robust array of resource partners who’ve committed to being there to meet with veterans and their families,” said Edward L. Ronders, Lapeer County Department of Veterans Affairs Director. “The entire purpose of the program is to educate veterans on their benefits and the community-based programs that are available to them”
Representatives from the VA Medical Center will explain that facilities services to vets while Lapeer County Bank and Trust will detail the VA Home loan program, among other services.
Other local resources scheduled to attend include Blue Water Center for Independent Living, VetBizCentral and the Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In addition, the U.S. Customs and Border patrol will be available to talk with veterans about job opportunities with that agency. It is recommended that veterans bring an up to date resume to the Summit.
The keynote speaker will be Brigadier General Michael A. Stone, Assistant Adjutant General for Installations Michigan Army National Guard.

The Veteran Summit is presented by the Lapeer County Department of Veterans Affairs and the United Way of Lapeer County.
