One super soulful groovy tune was happening this week in 1968. Otis Redding's "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" made it up to #1 on the singles chart. Otis didn't have the opportunity to savor the success, a little over three months earlier he was killed in a plane crash.
The cool lyrics made you fell like you were on the dock with Otis.
Sittin' in the mornin' sun
I'll be sittin' when the evenin' comes
Watchin' the ships roll in.
Then I watch 'em roll away again
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
