My ancestors were a lot more interesting than I am. My grandmother’s brother enlisted as a Private in the Civil War [9th Michigan Infantry, Company I], my mother’s grandfather was a blacksmith in the village of Columbiaville and my grandfather (photo) emigrated to Michigan from the family farm in County Westmeath, Ireland. The Lapeer County Genealogical Society is meeting tonight (3/10) at the First Presbyterian Church in Lapeer at 7 PM. Help will be available if you want to get started tracing your roots.

Wendy Lange, local photographer and author, will be talking about Historical Barns, Farms and Houses in Almont and Dryden. Visitors are welcome.
