The Michigan Public Service Commission is looking into Consumers Energy Company's estimated billing practices in a new investigation just announced. The commission calls on Consumers Energy to provide detailed explanations about its estimated billing practices. The commission goes on to say, "problems have persisted for several years despite repeated meetings" with Consumers Energy.

Consumers Energy spokesperson, Dan Bishop, says that they are working with the commission. Bishop did add that bad weather and dangerous animals have hindered workers from completing meter readings, but Consumers Energy is 'making progress' on reducing the amount of estimated meter reads to homes with the installation of upgrades to 'smart meters'.

Consumers Energy Company has until February 18 to file a report where the Michigan Public Service Commission will review and produce their recommendations to the company by May 18.
