The 1978 hit album First Glance gave April Wine its first American hit in several years, Roller, which started rolling in Flint, Michigan that year and spread to most of the mid-west.  The band went on to bigger projects later, but it will always be that First Glance album that many fans here still love...

April Wine had pop sensibilities way back to the beginnings, learning how to craft it around good solid harder edged tunes that would later pay off.  You Could Have Been a Lady is a great example of how the band sounded not too far from their start, this, their first hit from 1972...

Today's Vault track 'Oowatanite' from April Wine stands out from the band's other work simply because their usual singer, Myles Goodwyn, doesn't sing on it.  The bass player Jim Clench does, who wrote it.  Anyone who ever saw April Wine in concert will know it from being the band's opening number for so many years...
