Lost Love Me Do Guitar Sells for Record $2.4M
The Gibson J-160E John Lennon is thought to have written and recorded ‘Love Me Do,’ ‘Please, Please Me’ and the LP ‘With The Beatles’ on sold for three times its $800,000 auction estimate on Saturday. John purchased the acoustic guitar in September 1962 at Rushworth’s Music House in Liverpool. He used it for about a year before swapping it with George Harrison in 1963 after which it vanished.
