The Detroit Red Wings kicked off their 2011/2012 season in Pittsburgh last night. The Penguins beat the Red Wings 3 – 2. The Wings got goals from Niklas Kronwall and Juri Hudler. Detroit travels to Philadelphia for another exhibition game tonight.

Penguin Chris Conner scored on Pittsburgh’s first successful penalty shot since 2007, Jordan Staal added his third goal in three games and the Sidney Crosby-less Penguins beat the injury-thinned Detroit Red Wings, 4 – 1, on Tuesday night. Johan Franzen picked up his 20th goal of the season in the loss.
