The signing in 1961 led to the band’s German-market cover of ‘My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean’ which in turn led to the band’s legendary partnership with manager Brian Epstein. John, Paul, George and Pete – who had yet to be replaced by Ringo Starr – were paid what amounted to about $20 each.
