Congratulations to the Kinks, who have narrowly defeated the Beatles to become the first band nominated into the 100% fan-voted Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame.
It all started with a couple of power chords fed through a modified guitar amp. Actually, it all started with an underwhelming cover of Little Richard’s ‘Long Tall Sally’ in February 1964. But no one really remembers that, and it doesn’t matter. So, it all started when Dave Davies struck the first distorted chord of ‘You Really Got Me’ and his brother Ray stepped up to the mic to deliver one of rock’s most defining songs.

Ray Davies Still Suffering From Gunshot
The Kinks Ray Davies has gone on record with Q magazine about his health issues that stem back to the 2004 incident where he was shot in the leg after chasing a thief in New Orleans. Davies, 66, said that a clot formed due to the residue still in his leg and that made him ill enough where he could not fly and he had to cancel his tour last year because of it.
