The creatively-titled Lifetime original movie 'Flint' is set to premiere in late October and the first peek at the movie just hit the internets.

Lifetime isn't known for producing beloved films. That's why it was particularly troubling for many residents to learn that their network would be charged with telling our story. In my opinion, the only moderately watchable piece of content they've ever produced was 'A Deadly Adoption,' because it featured Will Ferrell and Kristin Wiig basically doing a 90-minute-long SNL version of a Lifetime movie.

The network was cool enough to be in on the joke for that production. They got it then, which makes it all the more troubling that they don't realize that they shouldn't be tackling a story as serious as the Flint water crisis. They don't have the gravitas necessary for such an important story. I don't think there are many who are confident this will be anything more than another black eye for our city.

Many Flint residents were dismayed that the production was not filmed here, but I was more upset about the fact that they ignored every single one of our casting suggestions. Some of them were quite brilliant, as you can see below. Instead, they went with Betsy Brandt, Jill Scott, Marin Ireland, and Queen Latifah. Good luck, Lifetime. I don't see this movie getting the response or acclaim for which you are hoping. Quite the opposite, actually.
