Never fear, ‘30 Rock‘ fans, for Tina Fey certainly won’t be out of work for long when the show begins its final season this fall on NBC.  Instead, Fey will take her signature sensibilities to ‘The Simpsons,’ guesting in the already-crowed 24th season of the long-running series.  But will ‘SNL‘s former funny-lady play herself a la Justin Bieber, or an original character?  And blerg, when will we see her appearance?

Entertainment Weekly announces today that America’s favorite funny-lady Tina Fey will appear in the 24th season of ‘The Simpsons,’ for an episode to air sometime in the spring.  The episode, titled “Black Eyed, Please” will see Fey introduced as Lisa’s new teacher Ms. Cantwell, who for unfathomable reasons doesn’t take a liking to the young know-it-all and bullies her with bad grades.

“She gives Lisa a ‘B’ and Ralph an ‘A’ even though Ralph signed his paper ‘Ralpa,’” says ‘Simpsons’ executive producer Al Jean. “And Lisa has a reading kangaroo with a bunch of little joeys in it for the books that she reads, and [Ms. Cantwell] takes the joeys out and puts them in other kangaroos. Hardcore stuff.”

Hardcore, indeed. Fey  isn’t the only big name to come out of ‘The Simpsons’ season 24, however, as we recently learned that Edward Norton would take the role of a rival priest to Reverend Lovejoy, and Justin Bieber will make a brief cameo as himself.  Additionally, ‘New Girl‘ star Zooey Deschanel would reprise her role as Bart’s love interest Mary Spuckler not once but twice, joining other such guests as Anne Hathaway, Sarah Silverman, Natalie Portman, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Steve Carrell, Patton Oswalt, Benedict Cumberbatch, Max Weinberg and Robert A. Caro.

Season 24 of ‘The Simpsons will bow on Sunday, September 30, while ’30 Rock’ begins its final season on NBC October 4.
