This week in 1980, Pink Floyd presented the first live performance in concert of the album The Wall in Los Angeles at the Memorial Sports Arena. The wild multi-media production included a wall built on stage during the concert. The opening night show came to a short pause but got back up and running when fireworks set fire to the stage. The audience thought it was part of the show.

The extravaganza was so costly that it would only be seen 31 times. Years later Roger Waters would bring The Wall concert tour back and have a highly successful run worldwide.
