Detroit Tiger starter Brad Penny was rocked for 7 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings of action yesterday in losing to the Los Angeles Angels, 12 – 7.  Relievers David Purcey and Phil Coke didn’t do much better either.  Both were roughed up in the loss.  Mark Trumbo homered and drove in a career-high five runs to lead the Los Angeles Angels offensive charge.  Most of the national media’s attention was focused on an argument between Penny and catcher Victor Martinez early in the game.  Both players said it was “much ado about nothing”.  Rick Porcello takes the mound for the Tigers in game two of the series tonight at Comerica Park.
