It’s starting to sound like a broken record.  The Detroit Tigers continue to struggle at the plate and with their relief pitching.  Last night it was Jose Valverde’s turn to give up late inning runs to an opponent.  The New York Yankees beat the Tigers with two runs in the top of the ninth inning, 5 – 3.  Alex Avila hit two home runs for the Tigers to pretty provide the whole offense for the Tigers.  Austin Jackson, Ryan Raburn and Brandon Inge struck out a total of SEVEN times last night.  The Tigers have now lost seven in a row with three more against the Yankees coming up.  Brad Penny is scheduled to take the mound for the Tigers tonight.
