The University of Michigan men's basketball team claimed its first Big Ten Tournament championship since the 1997-98 season with a decisive 71-56 victory over Wisconsin.
Big Ten Tournament MVP Derrick Walton Jr. had 22 points, six rebounds and seven assists. Michigan defeated Wisconsin to become the lowest-seeded team (No. 8) to win the Big Ten Tournament.
The Wolverines will be the No. 7 seed in the Midwest Region NCAA Tournament and will face No. 10 seed Oklahoma State in the first round on Friday (March 17) at 12:15 p.m. in Indianapolis.
