The last in a four-part series of workshops designed to help veterans determine if agriculture may be a career to consider will be held at 12 noon Friday (3/31). Veterans will have the opportunity to meet with two fellow veterans who are Lapeer County farmers and discuss career opportunities in agriculture.
The Lunch and Learn workshop, sponsored by the Lapeer County Department of Veterans Affairs, Michigan State University Extension and the United Way of Lapeer County will be held at Silver Grill Restaurant on Cedar Street (M-53) in Imlay City.
George Vanhoutte, a local farmer, is expected to attend and will explain a vegetable business opportunity available to veterans. Also, Frank Gublo, an Army veteran will be on hand to discuss resources available from the MSU Product Center. The Product Center helps individual develop and commercialize high-value products and businesses in the Food, agricultural and natural resources sectors.
