If you're active duty military or a fellow veteran, bring your ID cards and come to the Eastern Michigan State Fair on Thursday (7/28). You'll get in free. The Veterans Affairs Department will be on hand next to the Main Gate to distribute the tickets and information on resources including VFW, Buddy to Buddy Program and the Lapeer County Vietnam Commemoration Committee.

“We’re truly grateful to Kroger for saying thank you to our military and veteran communities” said Director of the Lapeer County Veterans Affairs, Edward Ronders. “This is a great opportunity to come out and enjoy the day, see the attractions, grab some grub and meet new people.”

American Legion Post 135 will present colors prior to the 4-H Livestock Auction at 11 AM and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 287 will present colors prior to the Moto Cross at 7 PM.

Acceptable identification includes military or retired military ID, your DD 214 or a membership card to a veterans organization such as the The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans or The Forty and Eight.
