Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil has been charged with fraud and misleading investors in his now-folded Arena Football League franchise.

Outlaws Investment Group and Sohrob Farudi have sued Neil and a group of others in Clark County, Nev., where Neil's former Las Vegas Outlaws were based. Farudi says he was misled about the team's finances, adding that Neil and other members of the Rockstar Investment Group falsely claimed to own another AFL franchise in Jacksonville, Fla., according to Courthouse News Service. Farudi says he invested $500,000 in August of 2014 based on that information, only to see the entire enterprise fall apart during its first year of operation.

By July 2015, the AFL had suspended operations for the Outlaws, after ownership reportedly failed to pay membership fees. Neil, whose team finished their much-hyped lone season at 5-12-1, placed the blame squarely on Farudi in published reports. "The investor was the managing partner who paid the bills and ran the team, business dealings, sponsorships and finances," Neil told the Las Vegas Sun in August. "That wasn't our responsibility."

Farudi fires back in the legal complaint, saying Neil "willfully, wantonly, outrageously, intentionally and falsely" accusing the singer of mismanaging the team in the news media when word of the franchise's demise spread. He is also seeking punitive damages for defamation.

Even with their losing record, the Outlaws had been set to go to the AFL playoffs when the league pulled the plug. Portland advanced to the postseason instead. Meanwhile, Neil returned to the road for what promises to be Motley Crue's final tour.
