Vintage April Wine (1975) – Earthy with a Strong Backbone, Loud, yet Smooth

aprilwine.ca

Today’s Vault track ‘Oowatanite’ from April Wine stands out from the band’s other work simply because their usual singer, Myles Goodwyn, doesn’t sing on it.  The bass player Jim Clench does, who wrote it.  Anyone who ever saw April Wine in concert will know it from being the band’s opening number for so many years.  All the more special now that Clench has passed away.  RIP James, we’re tipping our hats to you today!  Out of town?  Listen live on-line.

Jim Clench, left, 1949-2010.
