With nearly 14,000 voters turning out, a new mayor of Flint was chosen on Tuesday.

Dr. Karen Weaver is the first woman mayor elected in Flint's history beating incumbent Dayne Walling with 56 percent of the vote. Weaver has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and is a small business owner.

According to ABC 12, after the final votes were counted Weaver tweeted "And Victory is Ours! Thank you Flint for going out and voting today! It is truly a blessing for all!
