Watch ‘Purple Haze’ Played in ‘Electric Church’ [VIDEOS]

Here’s a preview of the new Jimi Hendrix film, ‘Electric Church,’ premiering next month on Showtime. It documents the Jimi Hendrix Experience’s performance at the Atlanta Pop Festival on July 4, 1970, and a scorching version of ‘Purple Haze’. The film’s title is a term Hendrix used to describe his live performances. “Younger fans should take note that Jimi didn’t need set lists, dance steps, stage backdrops and lighting cues to connect with his audience. He wanted them to be with him in what he would often describe as their own little world together, his ‘electric church,’ as he described it” director John McDermott told Rolling Stone.
