Weird Al Releasing 8 Videos In 8 Days [VIDEOS]

Growing up in the 80s I was exposed to some great music, and even greater parodies.  Well, the mad genius behind “Fat”, “Eat It” and “Stuck In A Closet With Vanna White” is back, and funnier than ever!

“Weird Al” Yankovic has been making us laugh since his first album was released 31 years go.  He may have been off the radar for a few years, but he is like a volcano.  Silent for a few years, then he explodes back on the scene with another collection of brilliant parodies and side-splitting originals.

His new album appropriately called ‘Mandatory Fun’ is available now at his website.  But 8 of the new tracks are being released on a daily basis for 8 straight days as Yankovic takes the internet hostage.  He is releasing each video through various media outlets, including Saturday’s release which will be released exclusively from Cars 108 and WCRZ.com via PopCrush!

Day One brought us “Tacky”, a mis-matched spin on Pharell Williams’ “Happy” with an all star cast of comedians including Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal and Jack Black.

Day Two had us all double checking our spelling as “Word Crimes”, a gramatically-correct take on Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” blew up the internet.  Our resident grammar Nazi, George McIntyre, has been playing this on non-stop since it was released.

Day Three covered one of Weird Al’s favorite topic… food.  Who else could take “Royals” by Lorde and teach us how to preserve leftovers properly with aluminum “Foil”?

Day Four‘s release reminded me of one of Yankovic’s originals called “Hardware Store”.  It shows how “Handy” he is by spoofing Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy”

Day Five will get you motivated if you’re attending a sporting event.  It’s a Weird Al original called “Sports Song”.

Day Six, Yankovic spoofs the “Pixies” with “First World Problems”.

On Day Seven we learned that Weird Al knows lots and lots of celebrities… well, sort of.  Prepare yourself for this Seven degrees of Kevin Bacon-esqe rundown of Yankovic’s “Lame Claim To Fame”.

In this video, Yankovic talks about writing “Mandatory Fun” and choosing songs to parody.

Be sure to keep checking back to see what else Weird Al has up his sleeve!  What are your favorite Yankovic songs from his 31-year career?
