I'll never forget where I was on January 28, 1986. I was sitting in my 3rd grade classroom, and our teacher had rolled a giant cart with that huge, five-ton television in it into the room. He killed the lights, and I remember that I could hardly contain myself! I was so excited to see a shuttle launch live on TV!

But like the rest of the nation, and the world for that matter, we weren't prepared for what was about to happen. My heart stopped when I saw the explosion, and I remember that I just started to cry. I was heartbroken. I had never seen anything like that happen, and obviously no one was expecting it.

I also remember President Reagan's address to the nation. I felt like he was talking to me directly when he addressed the school children who were watching. I got chills when I found his address on YouTube.
