Looking for some cabin fever relief. This is just what the doctor ordered, a nice shot of the Blues. Reverend Raven and the Chain Smoking Altar Boys, Mississippi Heat and Larry McCray dishing up the the Blues at The PIX Theatre.

On Friday, February 6, Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys kick off the first Winter Blues Festival at The PIX. The Reverend and his band will take the stage at 7:30 p.m.Traditional Blues with original songs in the tradition of Slim Harpo, Little Walter, Jimmy Rogers, Billy Boy Arnold, Junior Wells and the Three Kings.

Reverend Raven and the boys will get the week-end started right but they are only the beginning.

On Saturday February 7, at 2:30pm Mississippi Heat takes the stage. This is one of the most successful Chicago Blues bands to come out of the windy city, traditional blues with a unique sound. Their music is traditional because it is steeped in Chicago’s golden sounds of the 1950’s: Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Jimmy Reed, Jimmy Rogers, Sonny Boy Williamsons, Junior Wells and George Smith.

The Saturday night at 7:30, PIX favorite Larry McCray will take the stage to close out the end of the first Winter Blues Festival. Although Larry has played concerts all over the world, he is Pure Michigan and loves playing in his home state. Larry’s savage blues-rock guitar and warm, soulful vocals has drawn attention worldwide.
