Art rockers extraordinaire Yes came out with 'Going For The One' in 1977, when art rock had fallen out of fashion in favor of bands that produced a tighter, shorter and more commercial song.  Styx, Foreigner, REO and to a large extent, punk and the budding new wave.  What then, was Yes going to do?  Surprisingly well!  This album is many fans fave and is considered one of their most overlooked albums.  A number 8 showing on Billboards top 200 is quite a feat, anytime.  'Wondrous Stories' was the single but FM latched onto the title.  We will too, on today's Vinyl Vault.  Out of town?  Listen live on-line.

Singer Jon Anderson shown in 1977.
