2013 Critics’ Choice Television Awards: ‘Big Bang Theory’ Scores, ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ Tie
Months before we have the Emmys or the Golden Globes to worry about, the annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards streamed Monday night and released the full list of winners as chosen by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association. ‘The Big Bang Theory‘ expectedly dominated in its many nominations, while the race for Best Drama tied and some surprising new stars were honored.
CBS ratings gobbler 'The Big Bang Theory' held strong with a win for Best Comedy Series, as well as both supporting comedy actor slots for Simon Helberg and Kaley Cuoco. Supporting actor awards on the drama side went to fan-favorites Monica Potter of 'Parenthood' and Michael Cudlitz of the now-canceled 'Southland.' Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night, however, was a win for Best Actress in a Drama Series for Tatiana Maslany of the BBC's 'Orphan Black.'
Both 'Game of Thrones' and 'Breaking Bad' tied for Best Drama overall, while 'American Horror Story: Asylum' took home awards for both male and female supporting actors Zachary Quinto and Sarah Paulson, though not for Best Movie/Miniseries.
Also worth noting was the Most Exciting New Series category, which chose FX’s 'The Bridge,' Showtime’s 'Masters of Sex,' ABC’s 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,' NBC’s 'The Michael J. Fox Show,' Showtime’s 'Ray Donovan' and CBS’ 'Under the Dome.'
