Back To The Bricks organizers have made the difficult decision to cancel all events this year.

The 2020 event had already been scaled back near the end of June due to the health concerns over the Coronavirus pandemic. Even with the scaled back version, car enthusiasts were excited to show off their cars however they could. With the recent spike in new cases in Michigan, event organizers were forced to cancel the event completely.

They released a statement on their Facebook page shortly after the announcement was made.

This is another huge blow for downtown Flint, which is normally packed with thousands of people for the car show. After the 4th of July festivities, and the Crim were both cancelled, this should not come as a surprise.

Amber Taylor is the Executive Director of Back To The Bricks, and she talked about how hard the decision was in their press release.

We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold this event for our fans, sponsors, and supporters, but we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today

2020 would have been the 16th year of Back To The Bricks, but organizers are now gearing up for 2021.

This is another tough pill to swallow for businesses in downtown Flint. During the big events that normally take place downtown, they have the opportunity to make a lot of money from the huge crowds. Now when you add in all of the ways that the pandemic has changed things, many of the businesses are struggling to even keep the doors open.

Hopefully we will be able to all follow the safety guidelines laid out for us, and reduce the number of confirmed cases in Michigan again. Then we can start to figure out what life looks like going forward.
