Update 11/18/20 4:03 PM - The officer has been identified as Justin McLeod. Genessee County Sheriff Chris Swanson held a press conference in regards to this matter today. You can watch and listen to his remarks here.

An unidentified City of Flint police officer has been arrested. The officer is accused of sexual abuse involving a young female. According to ABC 12, authorities believe the officer molested and raped the young female several times over the past two years. At this time, he has not been officially charged. That is expected to happen sometime today.

It appears the victim reached out to a nurse who works with Genesee Human Oppression Strike Team (GHOST). That phone call led police to a home in the 6000 block of North McKinley Road in Flushing Township. The victim was then taken to a safe place with the help of a local children's advocate group, Voices for Children.

Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson described the victim as a juvenile female under the officer’s "circle of influence". Not sure what that means, but it does not sound good at all. As for the 36-year-old suspect, he is now off the job. He had been employed with the Flint Police Department for the last five years, and was also part of the K-9 unit.

If you are a victim of sexual abuse, there is help. Do not be afraid to ask for it. If you are a minor, Voices for Children Advocacy Center can and will help you too.
