The actor who will portray Chris Cornell in an upcoming movie about the late rocker's life has been revealed.

The previously announced documentary being produced by Brad Pitt will include archival footage of the Soundgarden and Audioslave singer. But it's now come to light that some parts of the film will feature dramatizations with actors occupying the roles of Cornell; his wife, Vicky Cornell; and others.

The movie, titled Like a Stone after the signature Audioslave single, is due in 2021. According to IMDB, actor Lauchlin MacDonald will play Chris Cornell in the dramatized scenes along with Drena De Niro — Robert De Niro's adoptive daughter — in the role of Vicky Cornell. See a photo of MacDonald down toward the bottom of this post.

MacDonald's previous acting work includes an uncredited role in 2007 film Ocean's Thirteen as well as appearances in TV's Hollywood Girl (2011), Lucky Stars (2004), Lucy (2003) and more. Drena De Niro has acted in films ranging from 1998's Great Expectations to last year's Furlough.

Additionally, Chris Cornell's mother, Karen Cornell, will be played by Adelicia Morris. Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayill will be portrayed by Sandeep, and Superunknown producer Michael Beinhorn by Paul Louis Harrell. Archival footage of Soundgarden, Audioslave, Pearl Jam and Nirvana will also be included.

As noted, the movie will follow the life and career of the influential rock star, according to an earlier report from Variety. It's being produced by Vicky Cornell in conjunction with Brad Pitt and Peter Berg's outfit Film 45, a non-scripted entertainment production company based out of California.

Chris Cornell died in Detroit on May 18, 2017, after having performed with Soundgarden earlier that day at the Fox Theatre. His death was ruled a suicide by hanging by the Wayne County Medical Examiner. He was 52.
