Detroit Lions Matt Stafford Placed On Reserve/Covid-19 List
The Detroit Lions announced Wednesday that QB Matt Stafford would be placed on the reserve Covid-19 list.
This is not the first trip to the Covid list for Stafford, but the last time he was placed on the list, it turned out to be a false positive. His wife Kelly ended up ripping into media and fans for the way they reacted to the false positive test.
This time the Lions are not saying that Stafford tested positive, only that he has had close contact with someone that did test positive. They put out a statement addressing Stafford on Twitter yesterday.
According to the guidelines, there is still a chance that Stafford will be able to play this Sunday against the Vikings.
Kelly Stafford did post a video on her Instagram story to confirm that neither her or Matt had tested positive. She took a quick jab at the NFL for putting the news out there again, but did go on to reassure that nobody in their household has tested positive.
I do feel bad for Kelly and the Stafford family, but I don't think this is quite like the last time. Nobody reported that Matt had tested positive, but the league does have to keep an active list of players that are in quarantine as well. Hopefully Matt will go through the weekly tests and remain negative so he will be able to take the field against the Vikings this weekend.
The Lions have a lot more to worry about than just Stafford playing. Check out the injury report for Detroit going into this Sunday's game here.
