Eagles of Death Metal Tease First Interview Since Paris Attacks
More than a week after the deadly Paris attacks that left 130 people dead, Eagles of Death Metal are getting to ready to unveil their first interview since the tragedy. The interview took place last week with Vice, where Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes hosted a video series on its sister site Noisey.
The interview will run sometime next week, but Vice and the band are teasing it with a 55-second video, which you can watch above.
Hughes and Josh Homme, who fronts Queens of the Stone Age in addition to playing in the Eagles of Death Metal, still seem visibly shocked by what happened on Nov. 13 in Paris. The band was playing at the Bataclan when terrorists attacked the concert venue. Eighty-nine people were killed there, including a member of the group's crew.
Not much is revealed in the video, but we do learn that the terrorists entered the band's dressing room and killed many of the people who were hiding in there. Hughes' voice cracks as he recalls the moment. "A great reason so many were killed was because so many people wouldn't leave their friends," he says. "So many people put themselves in front of people."
On Wednesday, the band issued its first statement on the attacks, writing “We are horrified and still trying to come to terms with what happened in France. ... We are proud to stand together, with our new family, now united by a common goal of love and compassion.”
Like many other artists since last week's attacks, Eagles of Death Metal have postponed their tour until further notice.
