The contract for 30,000 ventilators has been awarded to General Motors.

The contract, with the United States Health and Human Services, is for 30,000 ventilators to be produced by August of this year. General Motors has been awarded the contract and according to GM, production has already begun.

This is the first contract for ventilator production rated under the Defense Production Act. The total for the contract is $489.4 million for 30,000 ventilators which will head to the Strategic National Stockpile. The first 6,132 ventilators are due by June 1st, 2020. General Motors will be able to produce 10,000 ventilators per month at its' plant in Kokomo, Indiana.
