After canceling for the first time in 16 years last year, the North Pole Express in Michigan is back this year to the joy of families across Michigan.

The Steam Railroading Institute (SRI) made the announcement on Thursday that things were a go for the North Pole Express to run once agin this November and December. The train, which will leave from Owosso, will begin running on November 20 and then continue with runs every Saturday and Sunday until the weekend before Christmas.

The special holiday ride is one of the most popular in Michigan every year. Tickets to board the Pere Marquette 1225 train, which is the train that Hollywood modeled the Polar Express after, traditionally sells out early each year. The experience has riders leaving Owosso and making a stop in the Village of Ashley. Tickets include a Christmas party with a visit from the man himself....Santa. The whole excursion runs about 4 hours or so.

Tickets & Times

Things will kick off with the first departures starting Saturday, November 20 at 10am and 5pm. They schedule will continue each weekend with the same times through December 19th, with a special run the Friday after Thanksgiving at 10am and 5pm as well. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 1, starting at 10am. Pricing starts at $65 per ticket with six different options to choose from. All seating will be assigned when tickets are purchased, and this year tickets will be digital or print at home.
