If You Crave Hot Dogs, You’ll Love These Mid Michigan Restaurants
I like a good hot dog. Vienna all beef for me. Although I like a Chicago Style dog, dragged thru the garden (Vienna all beef dog, poppy seed bun, mustard, diced white onion, neon green relish, pickle spear, tomato slices, sport peppers and celery salt), I also enjoy a plain dog, sometimes with mustard.
What is a hot dog? According to Wikipedia, it's a pretty simple description:
A hot dog (less commonly spelled hotdog) is a food consisting of a grilled or steamedsausage served in the slit of a partially sliced bun. The term hot dog can also refer to the sausage itself.
I used to like eating raw hot dogs as a snack. I haven't done that in years—as I grew older I grew out of eating raw hot dogs. There are better ways to eat the dog! Grilled, steamed, boiled or cooked on the flat top. I like a good casing on the hot dog that "snaps" when I bite into it.
When I was a kid I'd visit downtown Chicago and they had the hot dog carts where you could buy a hot dog right on the sidewalk. Last time I was in Chicago, pre-covid, the hot dog stands were still serving them up out of their hot pans in their hot dog cart. The experience is fun and the hot dog is tasty.
There used to be a hot dog cart in downtown Lansing that was pretty good.
