It’s National Disc Jockey Day
National Disc Jockey Day happens today in remembrance of Allan Freed (picture above) who died at the age of 43 on January 20, 1965. Allan aka ‘Moondog’ was a popular DJ in Cleveland and New York City. The story goes that he came up with the term ‘Rock N Roll’.
Yours truly got the idea of being a DJ when I was 13 years old listening to Top 40 radio at night. I thought to myself what a cool job. You get to play rock and roll records have fun doing it and get paid for it.
