A Michigan mom named Bayley Simon was breastfeeding her son, Jameson, when the infant suddenly began choking on mucus.

The baby went limp, stopped breathing, and began to turn blue, sending Simon into a state of panic.

People nearby in the Walmart customer service area rushed over to assist by attempting CPR.

Fortunately, Officer Edwar Talia, a father himself, ran to the scene and quickly took control of the situation.

He positioned the 5-month-old face-down along his forearm.

Using the heel of his hand, Officer Talia gave repeated firm back blows between the baby's shoulder blades.

The body camera footage captured the tense moments, followed by the relief as the baby cleared his airway and let out a sound, beginning to breathe normally.

By the time emergency medical services arrived, baby Jameson was safe, reportedly resting and even experiencing a few hiccups.

This entire incident is a scary reminder of how fragile life is and emphasizes the importance of people learning how to perform CPR because you never know when you might be called upon to save someone in need.
