Detroit Lions Featured on the Cover of Sports Illustrated, Predicted to Win It All
Sports Illustrated - the Bible of sports - has released its Fall Football Preview edition, and this year they're featuring the Detroit Lions in a big way.
Following an amazing 2023 season, Lions fans, and the Lions themselves, see big things happening for the franchise in the upcoming season. And it seems Sports Illustrated sees it, too.
The writers of the article about the Lions, which also highlights the Bbshop of a church in Detroit - comparing his struggles to rebuild his church much like the Lions had to rebuild their team - say that the Lions could win it all.
In 2023, Lions fans thought it might happen, too. The Lions finished the season with a 12-5 record, securing themselves a spot in the playoffs. Making the playoffs was a huge deal, and they made it as far as the NFC Championship Game before they were defeated by the San Francisco 49ers in a huge comeback.

So, will this be the Lions' year? SI's Conor Orr and Greg Bishop seem to think so, writing,
They’re ready to grab the wheel from Campbell and drive this franchise straight to New Orleans in February, to the Lions’ first Super Bowl.
And they didn't just pick them based on vibes. Orr and Campbell told the Detroit Free Press' Ahmad Garnett that the Lions "look like the most complete team in football right now."
That remains to be seen, but we fans are hopeful, too. The Lions have one remaining preseason game - Saturday, August 24, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They'll kick off the regular season at home on Sunday Night Football, taking on the Los Angeles Rams (and former Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford).
