They say it's important to be passionate and active in your community. But, I think when people say that, they're referring to the community's average, everyday, common-sense citizen. You know, people who pick up after their dogs on walks, and volunteer for the PTP without being a 'Venmo Parent'.

However, maybe we should put a big asterisk next to that phrase for people who are a little angry or out of hand. And, I get it- sometimes when you're mad about how things are being run in your city, it can come out in strange ways.

Sort of like a Lansing man recently dropped by a city council and went viral for his very authentic message for his city leaders. A man identified by the council as David Hokenson steps up the the podium around an hour after the meeting starts, and opens with exactly how he feels.

"WHAT'S UP SCUMBAGS?", without skipping a beat the man wonders if the council enjoys 'stealing from people, violating the constitution, and sitting up here like you're somebody f***ing special?'

As soon as a council member tries to stop him from swearing and taking more verbal shots at them, he continues on to say that it's his constitutional right to say whatever he wants, and claims that he has a federal lawsuit against one of the council members. He says he's had beef with he council for several years and that 'this s**t ends today'.

As they ask to have him escorted out, he flips his middle finger to the council and storms out.

I did go through court records in Lansing to see if the lawsuit is real, and it appears he does infact file a lawsuit against Cromwell in 2022, but it was dismissed already. So, I'm not sure what is goal is other than getting escorted out of this meeting and giving me a new catch phrase, but here we are.

And hey, it's your right to express yourself however you want. Just don't be shocked if they ask you to leave when it come out like it did for this guy.
